My hope through this journal is to help and educate people Perhaps you find yourself in a similiar situation and feel you are all alone. It is my hope that I can share my experiences with you and let you know that you are not alone. Perhaps you have no idea what Spina Bifida is and with the help of this site and the links available you will become knowledgeable. Perhaps you are just not aware of what a physically challenged person goes through on a daily basis that an able bodied person takes for granted because you are not touched personally. I hope that I'm able to shed some light on this for you.

Leia: I'll bet I know which book the name "Ayla" comes from :) My meowmie loves those books too :) She also has an ileostomy (sort of like a colostomy) since she was 10 years old so she knows what it's like to be really sick and unable to do 'normal' stuff as a kid too. Good luck to you and Ayla.

Ayla starts Track & Field

Earlier this month Ayla started Track & Field through the Child & Family's Disability Resource Program. It's given her a great opportunity to meet others who are in wheelchairs, to socialize with kids her age, and to get plenty of exercise. She's really enjoying it and I love watching her enjoy herself so much.<br>

She wants to participate in the summer regional games in Canton, MA the weekend of June 10-12th, so I will register her with the NEWAA; which is the New England Wheelchair Athletic Association. I'm looking forward to that weekend, it should be a blast!
